Event Recap – Atlanta Local Tour Team 1 Wins The 2018 Southeastern Cup!
The 2nd Annual Southeastern Cup was contested at the beautiful Callaway Gardens Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Four Local Tour teams competed over 36 holes – Atlanta 1&2, Raleigh and Gulf Coast. The Atlanta Local Tour Team 1 pulled out a close victory over the second place Gulf Coast Local Tour team with a final score of 95 – 91. Third place went to Atlanta Local Tour Team 2 who narrowly edged the Raleigh Local Tour team by ¼ point; 84 – 83.75.
Seven age groups from each Local Tour competed against each other over the two-day event. Eight points were awarded to 1st place, seven for 2nd, six for 3rd, five for 4th, and four for 5th. Atlanta 1 led Gulf Coast by 1 point entering the final round and strong finishes by the Boys 10, 11 and 12 secured the victory for their team.
The first round was plagued by rain in the afternoon making playing conditions difficult. Sunday was a cold start with temps in the 40’s but under sunny skies, warming up to the low 60’s by midday.

Forming a Team
Qualification for the U.S. Kids Golf Southeastern Cup is based on the final standings from the Summer Local Tour season. The top 2 players in the Local Tour points standings (Boys 9/Girls 10 & above) will receive an automatic invitation to represent their respective Local Tour in the Southeastern Cup. Each age group will have a team representing their Local Tour, 1st and 2nd in points will form the team. Seven two-player teams will represent each Local Tour with points being compiled each day from the 7 age groups. The team compiling the most points will be crowned Southeastern Cup Champions.
Three Local Tours will square off over two days of best ball competition to determine who walks away with the cup.
